In Poland, I develop my game and character (Interview)

Elena Tsineke has given an excellent welcome to the fans of PolskaStrefaInwestycji Enea AJP Gorzów and the game in the Polish league. The basketball player from Greece is averaging 20.8 points, 6.3 assists and 4 rebounds in OBLK, she is also the third scorer in the Polish league, and in EuroCup Women she is averaging 16.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds. How does she like Poland and what are her feelings after a few games in the Gorzow?

How do you like playing in the Polish league?

It is great. The level and competition is exactly what a player like me needs to continue growing. Developing my game and character. We are at the top of the Polish league, with difficult meetings with Gdynia and Sosnowiec behind us. I couldn't play in them due to an injury sustained during the EuroBasket Women's qualifiers. We are about to play against strong Euroleague teams - Lublin and Polkowice, I can't wait for those games, and the one against Polkowice will be in our new Arena Gorzow.

How do you evaluate your team? What goals do you set for yourself for this season?

We have a very strong team.  We can compete at all levels. Furthermore, we got great pieces in our team and combined all together makes a hard to beat team. We all are each other’s best teammate, and we encourage one another to get the best results possible. The goal is to win one day at a time and medals or any other achievements, individual or not, will come naturally by focusing on winning one day at a time.

What places in Gorzow did you have a chance to visit, and which did you like the most?

I have not visited too many places, we play every 3 days, so the time is spent on training and recovery. Together with my teammates, I had the opportunity to be on a golf course near the city center, and one of the training sessions, instead of in the gym, was in a nature reserve, where there was a nice view of the city and Warta river at its peak

What would you recommend tourists to visit in Gorzow?

Maybe I will visit the city. You should go to the lake and visit a huge green park. This park is called "Rose Park," but we won't see the flowers until spring.

Which Polish dishes have you had a chance to try? Do you have your favorite?

I tried the chicken Schnitzel and must say it is pretty delicious. It was during our lunch together with our teammates where there was a Polish dinner, which was just this Schnitzel along with an apple cake made from apples we saw in an orchard near town.

What about the Polish language? Do you already know any phrases or expressions?

I only know how to say thank you „dziękuję” and Hi „cześć”. Polish is very difficult, but there is still some time in this season, so maybe I will learn a few more phrases.
